“The deed is all, not the glory.”

It was truly an honor to be able to attend, and celebrate, the retirement ceremony of my friend and fellow Medal of Honor recipient Master Chief Special Warfare Operator Ed Byers.

Ed joined the Navy in 1998 and spent his first three years in as a Navy Corpsman. Since graduating BUDS in 2002 he has operated as a SEAL on 11 overseas deployments while earning 5 Bronze Stars with valor, 2 Purple Hearts and in 2016, for his actions during a hostage rescue mission for an American doctor in Afghanistan in 2012, received the Medal of Honor.

Over his career he spent roughly 280 days a year away from his home and family.

Thank you for everything brother and I wish you and your family the very best that life and freedom has to offer. (And if you’re wondering why there’s no more pictures….let’s just say most of the extremely badass guest list was a little camera shy) 🇺🇸
